The Diversity Summer Internship Program is a cornerstone
program of The Ad Club. The goal is to expose diverse students
to opportunities within the Boston Advertising/Communications
Industry and to help increase the level of diversity within
the industry.
Each year, The Ad Club signs on a number of different
companies as work-site sponsors. These companies include Advertising
Agencies, large organizations with Marketing Departments,
and Media Outlets. The number of internships available varies
each summer based on the number of positions available.
The Ad Club acts as the facilitator of the program
by reviewing submitted applications, scheduling interviews,
and placing the accepted students at the varied work-sites.
The Ad Club acts as the main contact for all aspects of the
program leading up to the summer. Once the program begins
in June, the main contact becomes the work-site supervisor,
who remains the contact for the entire 10-week program.
During the 10-week program, the interns will work
approximately 40- hours per week at their work-site. Hours
will vary based on the company work schedules. Interns will
also attend Friday Forum advancement sessions where they will
hear from varied industry professionals and have the chance
to see the inside of major companies in the Boston area. Interns
will also have the opportunity to meet with program Mentors
and participate in an Intern Community Service Day.
This program provides students with the opportunity
to break into the Advertising/Communications industry, the
opportunity to meet many professionals and the opportunity
to network with peers. This is a paid program. The total stipend
for the summer is $3200.
In order to be considered for this program, each
applicant must complete the entire application and must submit
all additional required materials listed on the application.
This opportunity is for minority students who are going to
be juniors, seniors or graduate students in the fall of '05
and who plan to pursue a career in the industry. The program
runs from June 6- August 12, 2005.
