BLITZ MEDIA INVESTS IN EXECUTIVE TALENT, CAPITALIZES ON MEDIA ROOTS

    Melissa Lea Named President & CEO; Joseph Pessolano, CFO and Mitch Blum CMO

    WALTHAM, MASS., May 14, 2012 – In a move to capitalize on its greatest strength and the need for media agencies that add marketing value, Blitz Media has made a series of executive level hires to grow the agency.  The Blitz Media Board of Directors officially named interim president Melissa Lea president and chief executive officer and in turn, Lea has hired former executives from Arnold and Mullen to join her team.

    "There is a huge need for great media agencies that are strategically oriented, analytically driven, and know how to drive brand engagement," said Lea.  "Blitz Media's new executive team has a successful track record of building businesses together.  We will continue to add to the talent of our agency to provide clients innovative strategies that drive results."



    Joseph Pessolano joined the agency as Chief Financial Officer and Mitch Blum has been named Chief Marketing Officer (both new positions).  Pessolano first worked with Lea at Arnold Worldwide where he was on the executive financial team.  He spent nearly a decade at Arnold and was the CFO of the agency's $2.1 billion global network.  Throughout his career, he has held financial positions at New York and Boston marketing agencies from Ammirati Puris Lintas to Chandler Chicco and Houston Herstek Favat.  Most recently, he was an agency financial consultant at Ark Advisors.


    Blum most recently served as senior vice president, director strategy and planning at Marketing Drive managing clients that include Procter & Gamble, Novartis, Welch’s, Pernod Ricard and more.  He held senior strategic marketing roles at Mullen and Arnold Worldwide (where he also worked with Lea).

    Lea joined Blitz Media in 2010 as senior vice president and has served as interim president since August 2011.  She served as executive vice president, director of business development at Mullen and senior vice president of marketing at Arnold Worldwide in a span of over a decade.  Prior to Blitz Media, Lea led a consortium-based marketing consultancy.  Lea is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School.

    Blitz Media was just ranked the eighth largest advertising agency in Boston by the Boston Business Journal and is the only media agency in the top ten.  The agency employs 50 people and has over $114M in billings.
